How we evaluate and rate AI tools

Our evaluation framework

ComparIA publishes editorial comparisons. Our ratings are informed assessments, not laboratory measurements: for each tool, they combine four sources of information, weighed by our editorial team.

1. Hands-on trials of free tiers: we try the free version or trial of each tool on typical tasks for its category (writing, image generation, research, coding).
2. Official documentation and pricing checks: features, limits and prices are verified on the vendors' official websites at each update.
3. Analysis of user feedback: we study public user reviews and community discussions to identify recurring strengths and weaknesses beyond our own experience.
4. Independent benchmarks: where relevant, we consult published third-party benchmarks and comparisons.

Our rating criteria

Each tool receives an editorial score out of 5, built from five weighted criteria:

• Output quality (40%): relevance, accuracy, language fluency.
• Ease of use (20%): learning curve, interface, documentation.
• Value for money (20%): usefulness of the free tier and real subscription costs.
• Reliability (10%): factual error tendencies, service stability.
• Features (10%): integrations, advanced options, API.

Ratings reflect our editorial judgment at the update date shown on each page. They are opinions, not scientific measurements — your experience may differ depending on your use cases.

Updates

AI tools evolve quickly. We review our comparisons whenever a tool changes significantly, and at least once per quarter. The last update date is displayed at the top of every article. Latest hands-on test session: September 1, 2026 (AI assistants and writing tools, free tiers).

Editorial independence and affiliate policy

ComparIA is funded by display advertising and affiliate links: when you subscribe to a tool through some of our links, we earn a commission at no extra cost to you. These links are marked with the rel="sponsored" attribute and disclosed in a transparency box on every page that contains them.

Our commitments:

• Ratings and rankings are established before any commercial consideration.
• Tool vendors have no right of review over our content.
• We regularly recommend tools with no affiliate program when they deserve it.

Limitations of our evaluations

Our assessments reflect the state of a tool at the indicated update date, within the limits of the free tiers we can access and the public information available. Displayed prices are indicative and should be verified on official websites. This is why we always recommend trying free versions yourself before paying.
